What a Manufacturing Supplier Qualification Page Should Include

A supplier qualification page should help procurement and engineering teams verify identity, capability, quality scope, risk controls, availability, and the next review step

Direct answer: A supplier qualification page should identify the company and facilities, define production and technical capability, document quality and certification scope, explain commercial and supply conditions, disclose important limitations, and provide controlled evidence for deeper review.

The page is an entry point, not the approval decision

Formal supplier approval can include questionnaires, audits, samples, capability studies, security review, contracts, and ongoing performance monitoring. The public page should make that process easier by giving buyers a reliable starting record.

NIST’s Supplier Scouting program responds to specific supply needs by identifying manufacturers with matching production and technical capabilities. A strong qualification page uses the same logic: requirements first, evidence second, promotion last.

Company and facility identity

List the legal entity, trading name, relevant facility, location, ownership relationship, and contact route. Explain which facility performs the stated process and which team owns technical responses.

Products, processes, and applications

Define product families, core and secondary processes, supported materials, size or tolerance ranges, typical volumes, and served applications. State what the company does not supply when that boundary prevents confusion.

Quality management and traceability

Describe incoming, in-process, and final inspection; calibration; lot or serial traceability; non-conformance handling; change control; and documentation supplied with an order. Link current certificates with scope and validity.

Capacity and continuity

Explain capacity in qualified terms, production and sample lead-time factors, critical dependencies, business continuity, and the process for confirming a specific order. Avoid publishing a maximum that does not apply to the buyer’s product.

Security and controlled information

Connected factories and suppliers may handle drawings, customer data, remote access, or software. State the controls and frameworks actually implemented. Referencing the NIST Cybersecurity Framework does not by itself demonstrate conformity.

Export and market readiness

State current export markets, supported documentation and languages, shipping or Incoterm context where approved, local partners, and product-specific compliance limits. “Global supply” should never hide country or certification restrictions.

Qualification evidence table

QuestionEvidence to publish
Who is the supplier?Legal entity and facility record
What can it make?Capability matrix and product pages
How is quality controlled?Process description and current certificates
Can it protect information?Security policy and verified controls
Can it supply the target market?Availability, logistics, documentation, and limitations
What happens next?RFQ checklist and responsible contact

Keep evidence current

Assign an owner and review date to every certificate, capability range, facility record, and policy. Remove expired or superseded documents promptly. When evidence is confidential, describe the approved public scope and explain how qualified buyers can request controlled access.
